Abstract
1. A metabolically altered derivative is stored in the fat of dogs fed heptachlor.
2. Countercurrent distribution and adsorption chromatography were used to isolate 76 mgm. of metabolite from 350 gm. of fat.
3. The metabolite has been identified as the epoxide of heptachlor.
4. The existence of a new pathway of biological oxidation, namely, epoxidation, has been demonstrated.
