Abstract
The quantitative nature of the acetylcholine induced decrease in the absolute refractory period of the electrically driven dog atrium in situ has been demonstrated. Atropine antagonized the acetylcholine induced changes and the atropine
antagonism was "reversed" by increasing the acetylcholine concentration. The acetylcholine-atropine antagonism can be described as "surmountable" according to the classification proposed by Gaddum.
