Abstract
Certain cardiovascular effects of biogenic peptides, eledoisin and substance P, have been studied in dog cross circulation preparations, especially whether these polypeptides induce these effects through central mechanisms. Eledoisin in doses of 0.05 µg/kg showed no cardiovascular action of central origin and produced a powerful vasodilating effect on the area where injected and circulated. Substance P in doses of 1.5 units/kg induced effects very similar to eledoisin.
