Abstract
Norethandrolone (17-ethyl-19-nortestosterone), testosterone propionate and progesterone all depress the amplitude of contraction of the isolated perfused rabbit heart.
Norethandrolone has appreciable potency in abolishing auricular flutter in dogs. Progesterone is approximately as effective as norethandrolone in this regard. Testosterone propionate does not show such activity to the same extent as the other two steroids.
Norethandrolone does not affect ventricular arrhythmia caused by coronary occlusion. It has negligible effects On blood pressure, heart rate and electrocardiogram, even at very large doses.
