In the above article [Maeda K, Lerdrup L, Sugino H, Akazawa H, Amada N, McQuade RD, Stensbøl TB, Bundgaard C, Arnt J, and Kikuchi T (2014) J Pharmacol Exp Ther 350:605–614], an error is presented in the data used in Fig. 2B.
The discrimination index value for one animal in the M100907 group, by mistake, was not taken out of the data set before the graph was created. This animal did not meet the inclusion criteria described in Materials and Methods (a total exploration time of a minimum of 15 seconds). The animal in question did not explore the novel or the familiar object, i.e., a total exploration of 0 seconds; therefore, a discrimination index value could not be calculated for this animal. The corresponding cell in the Excel data calculation sheet was left blank and later erroneously interpreted as a 0 value by the software, leading to an incorrect mean value and variance for the M100907 group.
Removing the value from the data set changes the mean discrimination index from 0.33 to 0.37. Importantly, however, this does not change the statistical significance, i.e., the M100907 group is still significantly different from the subPCP/vehicle group with P < 0.01, and thus, the overall interpretation of the effect of M100907 that the authors describe in Results and Discussion remains the same.
