Renal cortical slices were incubated with 20 μM CMPF at 25°C for 1 h, either in the control buffer (25 mM Hepes/Tris, pH 7.5, 5.4 mM KCl, 1.8 mM CaCl2, 0.8 mM MgSO4, 5 mM glucose, and 140 mM NaCl) or in buffer in which NaCl was replaced with 140 mM of various inorganic salts. The effect of lithium (5 mM) on the uptake of CMPF by renal cortical slices is also shown. Each value represents the mean ± S.E. of six different experiments.
