Plasma concentrations of L-glutamate and L-arginine after oral administration to rats

ArgGlu (10 mg/kg, the dose that significantly promoted gastric emptying) was dissolved in test meal (0.5 mL/kg) and orally administered. Blood was taken from the inferior vena cava, whereas the rat was under ether anesthesia immediately following administration of ArgGlu (0 min) and at 15, 30, and 60 minutes after administration, and plasma concentrations of L-glutamate and L-arginine were measured. Data represent mean ± S.E. (N = 5).
