Sodium diphenyl hydantoinate (Dilantin) given orally to albino rats causes an increase in the excretion of ascorbic acid in the urine as determined by the sodium 2-6 dichlorobenzenoneindophenol method. 2. The maximum excretion of vitamin C in the urine following the oral administration of dilantin is reached on the fourth day, returning to its control level on the fifth to seventh day. 3. The body supply of vitamin C appears to be gradually decreased by the administration of dilantin as indicated by our tissue studies.
