Aminopyrin in a concentration of M/4500 inhibits the oxygen uptake of rat liver suspensions. Six to ten times the amount of antipyrin is without effect. The inhibition is greatest at pH 6.7. 2. The vanadium catalyzed oxidation of phospholipids by liver and bone marrow which is maximal at pH 6.7 is inhibited by aminopyrin but not by antipyrin. Other tissues show smaller vanadium effects but they react similarly to the two drugs.
