LING CHEN Y1 - 1933/12/01 UR - http://jpet.aspetjournals.org/content/49/4/561.abstract N2 - A strict comparison of 26 digitalis-like principles, composed of 10 bufagins, 12 bufotoxins, and 4 members of the digitaloid glucosides, has been made from the physical, chemical, and pharmacological points of view. Several features of similarity and dissimilarity have been presented and discussed. It appears that bufagins and bufotoxins are generically similar, but specifically different. These two classes of compounds are more closely related to scillaren A than to G-strophanthin (ouabain), digitoxin, and thevetin. Incidently the merits and shortcomings of several methods of digitalis standardization, as revealed by our own experience, have been enumerated. ER -
