AB The average rate of elimination of certain analgesics and hypnotics (based on the observed persistence of action) was determined in cats. The calculated amounts eliminated during periods of twenty-four hours are: a. The equivalent of 115 per cent of the average fatal oral dose, or 550 per cent of the intravenous, of antipyrine. b. The equivalent of less than 120 per cent of the fatal oral dose, or 300 per cent of the intravenous fatal dose of amidopyrine. c. About 5 per cent of the fatal intravenous dose of barbital sodium. d. From 40 to 50 per cent of the fatal intravenous dose of amytal sodium.
