A phyto-pharmacological study of blood specimens from pernicious anemia revealed that the serum in all such cases is very much more toxic than normal human blood serum. 2. Such a toxicity is not shown by blood specimens examined from all other kinds of anemias or diseases of the blood. 3. These observations speak in favor of a toxic etiology for pernicious anemia. 4. The phyto-pharmacological test has been found useful in the differential diagnosis of pernicious anemia.
