The enzyme activity in the corpus striatum showed a biphasic response. Striatal TH activity decreased, reached a nadir at 36 hours and progressively returned to normal by about 48 hours. The recovery of the TH activity may be a manifestation of drug tolerance. Cold stress increased adrenal but had no effect on striatal TH activity. Striatal dopamine levels followed the decrease in TH activity but failed to increase as the enzyme recovered.
