AB  - Tolbutamide caused a small increase in blood pressure in the dog. This effect was more marked after reduction of the blood pressure by various hypotensive agents. The increase caused by tolbutamide was still observed after elevation of a reduced blood pressure by norepinephrine, or angiotensin infusion. The effect was not associated with release of insulin brought about by tolbutamide; it was not mediated by catecholamine release, nor by an action of tolbutamide on the kidney.
