The femoral and pulmonary blood vessels are dilated but the heart is initially stimulated and depressed. All these effects are manifestations of local actions of quinidine on the heart and blood vessels, except the cardiac stimulation. Like quinidine, procainamide dilates the pulmonary and femoral blood vessels and depresses the heart. Unlike quinidine, procainamide induces a pure fall in pulmonary arterial pressure. © 1966 by The Williams & Wilkins Company
