This effect is observed with fresh, but not with aged, homogenates and appears to be related to a suppression of oxaloacetate accumulation, possibly through inhibition of malic dehydrogenase. The results bear considerable similarity to those obtained by other investigators who studied the effect of thyroxine on succinate oxidation. ER -
