YR 1961 UL http://jpet.aspetjournals.org/content/131/2/261.abstract AB When evaluated for blood pressure depressor effect on dogs anesthetized with ether, the sodium salt of 8-aminotheophyffine (8-A-T Na) exhibited a marked response upon intravenous and intraduodenal administration. This effect could not be repeated in experiments on trained, unanesthetized dogs. Pharmacologic studies on the compound suggest a musculotropic action in eliciting the hypotensive response. The diuretic activity of 8-A-T Na was less marked than that of theophyffine. The effect on coronary flow was comparable to that evoked by aminophyffine. Toxicity was minimal as evidenced by growth curve of the rat and acute toxicity experiments. © 1961, by The Williams & Wilkins Company
