The response of the isolated rat uterus to angiotensinamide, in our experimental conditions, resembled that to oxytocin, with the difference that repeated administrations of angiotensinamide led to a decreased sensitivity of the preparation. The oxytocic potency of angiotensinamide, compared with that of oxytocin, was found to be of the order of 5 x 107 I.U./mg. Incubation with trypsin or carhoxypeptidase, destroyed the oxytocic as well as the pressor action of angiotensinamide. The destruction (If both activities by partial acid hydrolysis, however, did not run parallel. The implications of these findings, with regard to the relation of angiotensinamide structure to activity, are discussed. ER -
