Ephedrine had only a slight effect on glycogenolysis. The relative potencies of the sympathomimetic amines in reference to the improvement of contraction in potassium-depressed diaphragms were as follows: isoproterenol > epinephrine >> levarterenol = phenylephrine = ephedrine. Fundamental differences in the mode of action of ephedrine from that of the other amines are discussed. The possible interdependence of the effect of epinephrine on glycogenolysis and on the force of contraction is discussed. ER -
