AB A study of the effect of various narcotic drugs and alcohols upon oxidative phosphorylation of rat brain mitochondria failed to reveal a uniform pattern of inhibition even in high concentrations. The specific inhibitory action of certain of the barbiturates on oxidative phosphorylation does not appear to be representative of the class of central nervous system depressants.
