Abstract
1. Flumerin possesses a very definite healing action in experimental rabbit syphilis, when four weekly intravenous injections, two of one-half and two of one-quarter of the tolerated dose of the drug, or three weekly intravenous injections of one-half of the tolerated dose, are used. At one quarter of the tolerated dosage, however, the drug is much less effective
2. Mercuric salicylate possesses a definite healing power in experimental rabbit syphilis, when three weekly intramuscular injections of one-third of the tolerated dose of the drug are used. The salicylate has approximately the same healing power as flumerin.
3. Drug 93 possesses a comparatively low order of healing power in experimental rabbit syphilis, when administered in four weekly intravenous injections, two of one-half and two of one-quarter of the tolerated dose of the drug, or in three weekly intravenous injections of one-quarter or of one-half of the tolerated dose.
4. The sterilizing powers of flumerin, mercuric salicylate, and Drug 93 at the dosages cited are practically nil.
5. Flumerin, mercuric salicylate, and Drug 93 are far inferior to neoarsphenamine as healing and sterilizing agents in experimental rabbit syphilis.
