Abstract
An automatic graphic method is described for frequent estimations of the volume of blood flowing through any organ which can be enclosed in a plethysmograph—provided the vein can be periodically clamped at point of exit from the plethysmograph. The use of an anticoagulant is not required, the extent of dissection is minimal and no interruption of the circulation is necessary. Its accuracy as applied to the kidney has been demonstrated by a variety of tests and its use in connection with the kidney does not entail alteration in blood pressure, kidney volume, bloodflow or urine elimination.
