Abstract
Inhibition of dopamine-β- oxidase with disulfiram prevents the restoration by dopamine and α-methyldopa of the response to tyramine in reserpine-treated animals. Disulfiram does not prevent the restoration of the actions of tyramine by norepinephrine and does not interfere with the actions of large doses of tyramine in normal animals. These results suggest that β-hydroxylation of dopamine and α-methyldopamine is necessary for restoration of the response to tyramine in reserpine-treated animals.
