Abstract
A new agent, 4,5-dihydro-6-methyl-2-[2-(4-pyridyl)ethyl]-3-pyridazinone (U-320), has been found to be a potentiator of hexobarbital. It prolongs plasma and brain levels of hexobarbital qualitatively similar to SKF-525A, but it may be differentiated from this compound by its ability to reinduce sleep in rodents recovering from hexobarbital hypnosis and will induce sleep when combined with subhypnotic doses of hexobarbital.
