Abstract
The renal transport of TEA is distinct from that of PAH. TEA secretion is not inhibited by a number of Krebs cycle inhibitors which can depress PAH transport. Probenecid which depresses PAH transport has no effect on TEA transport. Infusions of potassium ion did not depress the renal transport of TEA. 2,4 Dinitrophenol depressed both TEA and PAH transport. The mercurial diuretic, mersalyl, depressed TEA transportbut had no effecton PAll transport. The mercurial induced depression of TEA transport could be reversed by small doses of mono and dithiols. Priscoline and N-methylicotinamide infusions did not produce clear cut evidence for a specific depression of TEA transport in the intact dog.
