Abstract
The analgetic action of methadone, meperidine, morphine, codeine, and methorphinan was enhanced by SKF No. 525-A in rats. This compound, however, did not significantly alter the LD50's of morphine or meperidine in rats. Furthermore, SKF No. 525-A did not increase the respiratory depressant action of morphine. SKF No. 525-A enhanced the potency of morphine in tolerant animals; however, it was shown that rats developed tolerance to SKF No. 525-A plus morphine in a manner comparable to morphine alone.
