In vitro antiproliferative activity of 2,3-dihydroxy-9,10-anthraquinone induced apoptosis against COLO320 cells through cytochrome c release caspase mediated pathway with PI3K/AKT and COX-2 inhibition
2016, Chemico-Biological InteractionsCitation Excerpt :It is expressed in the G1 phase of the cell cycle, and is thought to regulate the G1/S transition point of the cell cycle by acting in conjunction with cyclin dependent kinase CDK4 [56,57]. The cyclins D1 and D2 have been reported to be over expressed in a variety of human cancers and chemical carcinogen induced mouse tumors [23,58–66]. The over expression of Cyclin D1 and D2 is common in cancer and is usually a result of defective regulation at the post translational level [23].
Serum and tissue biomarkers as predictive and prognostic variables in epithelial ovarian cancer
2009, Critical Reviews in Oncology/HematologyCitation Excerpt :The predictive and prognostic relevance of different cell cycle- or apoptosis-regulatory proteins has been recently assessed in patients with EOC. Cyclin D1 is overexpressed in 18–89% of tissue sections from EOC, without any relationship with a specific histological type [84,95–102] (Table 3(a)). Some authors failed to detect an association between cyclin D1 expression and clinical outcome [97,98].
AKAP12 induces apoptotic cell death in human fibrosarcoma cells by regulating CDKI-cyclin D1 and caspase-3 activity
2007, Cancer LettersCitation Excerpt :In general, uncontrolled CDK kinase activity is one of the major causes of cancer progression as their functions are tightly regulated by CDKIs proteins in normal cell cycle progression [19]. Also, the expression level of cyclin D1 is necessary for progression through G1 phase, and data from experimental and human cancers implicate cyclin D1 as a mediator of ras-induced proliferation [20]. In parallel with these reports, AKAP12 decreased cyclin D1 expression and increased CDKIs such as Cip1/p21 and Kip1/p27 which bind to cyclin-CDK complexes to inhibit their catalytic activity and induce cell cycle arrest in HT1080 cells.
Overexpression of cyclo-oxygenase 2 in squamous cell carcinoma of the hypopharynx
2002, Human PathologyCitation Excerpt :Tumor tissues were classified as overexpression of protein if the signal intensity of tumor tissues was 2-fold higher than the average signal intensity of 4 adjacent oral mucosa obtained from patients. Immunohistochemical staining was performed as described previously.20 In brief, 5-μ m frozen sections were fixed with aceton and treated with 0.5% hydrogen peroxide to remove endogenous peroxidase activity.
Transcriptional targeting for ovarian cancer gene therapy
2001, Gynecologic OncologyExpression of cell cycle regulators p57KIP2, cyclin D1, and cyclin E in epithelial ovarian tumors and survival
2001, Human PathologyCitation Excerpt :Thus, of the 3 ckis studied to date in epithelial ovarian cancer, only p27KIP1 has demonstrated a significant association with patient survival.4,7,10 Several studies have assessed epithelial ovarian tumors for overexpression of cyclin D1 using different methods, including immunohistochemistry and Northern and Western blot analysis, with reported incidences ranging from 10% to 32%.13-18 In our immunohistochemical study, we found nuclear accumulation of cyclin D1 in 13% of epithelial ovarian tumors.
