    Despite this, different assays were developed for the determination of MEL in pharmaceutical formulations, human plasma and urine. MEL was determined by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with direct UV-absorbance detection (after derivatization) [5] and evaporative light scattering detection [6,7] or by voltammetry [8]. Micellar electrokinetic chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry was used for studies of MEL stability in aqueous solutions [9].
