2008, Trends in Pharmacological SciencesGastric distension enhances CCK-induced Fos-like immunoreactivity in the dorsal hindbrain by activating 5-HT3 receptors
2006, Brain ResearchCitation Excerpt :Previous work has shown that 5-HT locally released in the mNTS is a source for local activation of 5-HT3 receptors (Calza et al., 1985; Huang and Pickel, 2002). In addition, vagal inputs into the NTS also are sufficient to activate DVC 5-HT3 receptors (Sykes et al., 1994). Thus, both peripheral and dorsal hindbrain 5-HT3 receptor populations may be involved in the Fos-LI by CCK and gastric distension.
