2022, Biochemical and Biophysical Research CommunicationsHistamine H3 receptor antagonists – Roles in neurological and endocrine diseases and diabetes mellitus
2022, Biomedicine and PharmacotherapyCitation Excerpt :The presence of histamine H3Rs on the surface of the cells of the pituitary gland would imply a role for H3R antagonists in blocking the release of ACTH. In addition, thioperamide, a potent histamine H3R antagonist was reported to inhibit the release of cortisol from adrenocortical cells of the pig adrenal gland [162]. All of these observations suggest that histamine H3 receptor antagonists may have a therapeutic role in the modulation of endocrine diseases involving the pituitary and adrenal glands.
