Administration of various OP compounds might have different behavioral presentation, suggesting that their resulting effects are not caused only by inhibition of AChE (van Dongen and Wolthuis, 1989; Pope et al., 1992). In 2005, London et al. reported that an exposure to OP pesticides in humans may induce a serotonin disturbance in central nervous system.

Multiple laboratory studies have reported on (1) long-term behavioral effects of a single, very high dose CPF exposure (López-Granero et al., 2013; Cañadas et al., 2005; Cardona et al., 2006; López-Crespo et al., 2009; Pope et al., 1992), (2) near-term behavioral effects of repeated low-dose CPF exposure (Chen et al., 2014, 2011), or (3) sub-chronic behavioral effects, particularly the cognitive effects of repeated low-dose CPF exposure (Terry AV et al., 2012; Hernandez et al., 2015). However, no studies have reported on long-term mood and depression-related behavioral effects of a CPF exposure regimen in adult rats that would mimic occupationally relevant exposures.
