Abstract

A skin-fixing, heat labile and “mast cell sensitizing” antibody was recently found in the rat by one of us (1, 2, 3, 4). The fact that the mouse stands phylogenetically close to the rat added to the recent observation of Prouvost-Danon et al. (5) showing that the ability to release histamine from mouse peritoneal mast cell arises early after sensitization and disappears after a short time lead us to investigate the presence of a similar antibody in the mouse. The present paper reports the results of experiments showing that the mouse produces a skin-sensitizing and thermolabile antibody that is here provisionally called “mouse early antibody”.
