Likewise, capsaicin induced a relaxation in precontracted muscle strips of the rat gastric fundus (Lefebvre et al., 1991). In the stomach, we also demonstrated that pretreatment with capsazepine abolishes the gastroprotective effects of l-cysteine, NaHS, or Lawesson’s reagent on ethanol-induced gastric lesions (Medeiros et al., 2009).
