2017, Journal of BiotechnologyCitation Excerpt :Cordycepin is a very important compound in Cordyceps with a wide range of biological activity such as antibacterial activity (Ahn et al., 2000), antiviral activity against HIV-1 (Mueller et al., 1991), antimalarial activity (Trigg et al., 1971), anti-tumor activities (Penman and Rosbach, 1970). Adenosine, which has been used as a marker for the quality control of C. sinensis, is a vasoactive substance which could used for the treatment of supraventricular tachycardia (Riccardi et al., 2008) and depress the excitability of CNS neurons (Corradetti et al., 1984). Other nucleosides also have many pharmacological effects.
