Androgenic modulation of arterial baroreceptor dysfunction and neuroinflammation in endotoxic male rats
2021, Brain ResearchCitation Excerpt :Tissues were fixed in 10% formaldehyde solution and embedded in paraffin blocks. Sections (5 μm) of rat heart and brain stem (-12.0 mm to −12.48 mm relative to bregma) (El-Mas and Abdel-Rahman, 1995, 1997; Sallam et al., 2019; Abuiessa et al., 2020) were cut and placed on positively charged adhesion glass slides (Thermo Scientific®, Berlin, Germany), then deparaffinized in xylene and rehydrated in a series of decreasing ethanol concentration (100, 95 and 70%). Heat-induced epitope retrieval was done by immersing slides in coplin jars containing 10 mM citrate buffer solution and incubated in a microwave at power100 for 1 min then power 30 for 9 min.

2019, NeuropharmacologyCitation Excerpt :Rat brainstems were fixed in 10% formaldehyde solution and embedded in paraffin blocks. Sections (5 μm) of rat brain stem (−12.0 mm to −12.48 mm relative to bregma, Fig. 1) (el-Mas and Abdel-Rahman, 1995, 1997a) were cut and placed on positively charged adhesion glass slides (Thermo Scientific®, Berlin, Germany), then deparaffinized in xylene and rehydrated in a series of decreasing ethanol concentration (100, 95 and 70%). Heat-induced epitope retrieval was done by immersing slides in coplin jars containing 10 mM citrate buffer solution and incubated in a microwave at power100 for 1min then power 30 for 9 min.

2018, European Journal of PharmacologyCitation Excerpt :All experiments were performed in strict accordance with the guidelines of the animal care and use of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Alexandria University, Egypt (ACUC Project # 28/2014). The methods used for intravascular cannulation and blood pressure measurement were described in our previous studies (Abdel-Rahman et al., 1992; El-Mas et al., 1994, 1997; El-Mas and Abdel-Rahman, 1995). Experiments were carried out 2 days later in conscious rats.
Cyclosporine counteracts endotoxemia-evoked reductions in blood pressure and cardiac autonomic dysfunction via central sGC/MAPKs signaling in rats
2017, European Journal of PharmacologyBrain stem adenosine receptors modulate centrally mediated hypotensive responses in conscious rats: A review
2015, Journal of Advanced ResearchCitation Excerpt :It might be argued that aortic barodenervation caused nonspecific upregulation of adenosine A2A as well as the α2A AR and I1 receptors because they followed the same pattern in the investigated brain stem nuclei. However, such parallel upregulation might be physiologically relevant because: (i) the A2A receptor, the α2A and the I1 receptors in the NTS and RVLM are spatially associated, (ii) all three receptors mediate hypotension [2,55,65,86], and (iii) their shared signaling pathways make it highly likely that these receptors physiologically interact [18–20]. These findings are consistent with a key role for central adenosine A2A in clonidine evoked hypotension in conscious ABD rats [82].
