We therefore employed a mouse line (NG2-CreER) that expresses Cre in neuron-glial antigen 2 (NG2) expressing cells upon i.p. administration of tamoxifen (Tam). NG2 is expressed by two brain cell types, pericytes (Ozerdem et al., 2002; Trost et al., 2013) and oligodendrocyte precursor cells (OPCs), also known as NG2-glia (Dimou and Gallo, 2015). To assess this line’s suitability to selectively affect LepR expression in pericytes, we probed the MBH with riboprobes for Lepr, Pdgfrb, and the OPC/NG2-glia marker Pdgfra.
