Sigma 1 receptor: A novel therapeutic target in retinal disease
2018, Progress in Retinal and Eye ResearchCitation Excerpt :The detection of Sig1R in lacrimocytes prompted Senda and colleagues to prepare retinal membranes from bovine eyes for Sig1R binding assays. Using [3H]-(+)-PTZ and [3H]-DTG, they demonstrated unequivocally the presence of Sig1R in retina (Senda et al., 1997). Sig1R binding sites were subsequently demonstrated in human (Sharif and Xu, 1999a), rabbit and rat retina (Sharif and Xu, 1999b).
