COX-2 inhibition reduces circulating IL-6 and calcium levels
Circulating levels of calcium and IL-6 were elevated in animals bearing Col26 tumors concurrent with wasting. Celecoxib or indomethacin treatment moderated these levels. Only elevated calcium was observed in animals bearing H&N 1483 tumors. Celecoxib-treated animals had significantly lower levels of circulating calcium than vehicle controls.
