The effect of i.v. (+)-apomorphine on the decrease in the number of spontaneously active A10 DA neurons produced by the repeated p.o. administration of SB-277011-A

In each experiment, the number of spontaneously active DA neurons was determined in 10 stereotaxically defined tracks following the administration of SB-277011-A for 21 days. Immediately following this, animals received 50 μg/kg i.v. (+)-apomorphine, and the number of spontaneously active A10 DA neurons was determined in 5 additional stereotaxically defined tracks. APO, (+)-apomorphine. Each value represents the mean number of spontaneously active A10 DA neurons detected per electrode descent ± S.E. The numbers in parentheses represent the number of animals examined.

  • APO, (+)-apomorphine.

  • 8-a  Significantly less than the 10-mg/kg dose before i.v. (+)-apomorphine, P < .01, Student's t test.
