Neuronal cultures, control and CEE (100 mM ethanol for 7 days), were exposed to KCl (50 mM) and osmotically balanced CSS for 5 min as described for excitotoxic agents under “Methods.” Values represent the mean ± S.E.M. from two separate experiments (at least three wells per experiment). Statistical analysis (two-tailed ttest) revealed no significant treatment effect at 50 mM KCl (P > .05).
