Cortical and hippocampal slices were perfused and incubated and the media were assayed as in table 1. During the second 10-min incubation period, the incubation medium contained l-glutamic acid (500 μM), trans-(1S,3R)-ACPD (10 μM) or quisqualic acid (10 μM) with or without MCPG (100 μM) or its vehicle (10 μl of 0.1 N NaOH), as indicated. Data are mean ± S.E.M. (n = 7).
