Striatal neurons, preincubated for 18 hr withmyo-[2-3H]-inositol (2 μCi/well) were exposed for 15 min to drugs used at the following concentrations: glutamate (100 μM), trans-ACPD (300 μM), quisqualate (100 μM) and (−)-nicotine (1 mM). Results, expressed in % of basal [3H]-inositol phosphate accumulation (1230 ± 260 dpm/well, n = 3), are the means ± S.E.M. of data obtained in three independent experiments, each performed in triplicate. No significant difference was found when the accumulations of [3H]-inositol phosphates were compared in the absence and presence of (−)-nicotine (two tailed unpaired Student’s ttest, P > .05).
