Cells were incubated with various concentrations of cisplatin. After 20 min, samples were taken for viability determination by flow cytometry or enzyme activity assay. Values are given as percentage of control ± S.E.M. (n ≥ 4). All values of enzymatic activity were significantly different from control.

  • 1-a Activity of complex I of untreated cells was 64 ± 4 μmol NADH/mg cell protein/s (mean ± S.E.M.,n ≥ 4).

  • 1-b Activity of complex II of untreated cells was 118 ± 30 μmol ubiquinone/mg cell protein/s (mean ± S.E.M.,n ≥ 4).

  • 1-c Activity of complex III of untreated cells was 240 ± 38 μmol cytochrome cIII/mg cell protein/s (mean ± S.E.M.,n ≥ 4).

  • 1-d Activity of complex IV of untreated cells was 192 ± 28 μmol cytochrome cII/mg cell protein/s (mean ± S.E.M.,n ≥ 4).

  • * Significantly different from PPTC exposed to 50 μM cisplatin (P < .05).
