Cells of C. neoformans strain JEC21 were grown in minimal medium, 30°C, containing the indicated benzofuran derivative (20 μM added in 10 μl DMSO) or just the carrier (DMSO, 10 μl)

The increases in cell number were measured over 6- to 10-h periods. The generation times are the means of three to four experiments and were determined by linear regression with reliability values of 0.9 or above. The S.E. are shown.
