Respiration parameters and membrane potential of isolated heart mitochondria Respiration rates (picomoles of oxygen per second per milligram) with glutamate (5 mM) and malate (2 mM) in the absence of exogenous ADP (state 4) and with 1 mM ADP (state 3). Sample size is five to six mitochondrial preparations in each group. Results are presented as mean ± S.E.M. and analyzed with one-way ANOVA and Bonferroni's multiple comparison post hoc adjustment.
