Sodium fluoroacetate like sodium dehydroacetate blocks the utilization of sodium acetate. Glucose maintains appreciable contractile activity even in the presence of high concentrations of fluoroacetate. Sodium fluoroacetate has no significant influence upon the oxygen uptake of isolated segments of rabbit intestine mounted in either sodium acetate or glucose containing media, although mechanical activity is profoundly diminished. 1950 by The American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics ER -
