The effect of penicillin on the clotting activity of blood was measured in 24 normal subjects before and after the administration of 300,000 units of crystalline penicillin G in wax and oil. There was no significant alteration in the clotting time, prothrombin time, or heparin tolerance curve. 2. Similar results were obtained with four normal subjects following the administration of 300,000 units of crystalline penicillin G in saline. 3. It is concluded that penicillin G has no effect on the clotting activity of blood in normal human subjects.
