WILLIAM SUNDERMAN Y1 - 1949/10/01 UR - http://jpet.aspetjournals.org/content/97/2/140.abstract N2 - The recovery time of white mice anesthetized with pentobarbital sodium is significantly prolonged by the intraperitoneal injection of nitroglycerine, butyl nitrate, diethyleneglycol dinitrate or sodium nitrite. Nitroglycerine appears to be the most effective of the compounds studied. The dosages required to demonstrate this phenomenon are of the order of 20 to 50 mgm./kgm. of body weight. Significant prolongation of recovery time may also be produced by the inhalation for twenty minutes of butyl nitrate in concentrations of 30 to 45 mgm./liter. ER -
