AB Measurements have been made of the trichioroethanol and trichloroacetic acid produced from chloral hydrate in vitro by isolated tissue preparations of the dog and of the rat. All of the tissues studied were capable under aerobic conditions of reducing chloral hydrate to trichloroethanol. Oxidation of chloral hydrate to trichloroacetic acid was demonstrated only in preparations of liver and kidney of both species. 1949 by The American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics
