LAZERE Y1 - 1941/12/01 UR - http://jpet.aspetjournals.org/content/73/4/463.abstract N2 - The daily oral administration of 4.8 mgm. of mecholyl, 47 mgm. of potassium chloride and 0.72 mgm. of prostigmine to adult albino rats with lesions in their tibial nerves neither delayed muscular atrophy nor hastened neuromuscular regeneration. The criteria employed in the studies include quantitative determinations of the weight changes, creatine concentration and strength of the gastrocnemius muscle at various times after denervation. A discussion is included of the reports of other investigators concerning the favorable influence of these drugs on muscular atrophy and recovery from paralysis. ER -
